Announcing 2021 Speaker Sam Raju

With Think Well 2021 just two months away, we’re finalizing the conference schedule and are excited to let you know about a new addition to the speaker lineup. Sam Raju will speak at Think Well for the first time, giving talks on “Does Prayer Really Matter?” and “Has Science Buried God?”

In between his preparations with his wife for delivery of their new child and setting up events for the ministry he has founded, we recently caught up with Sam so we could find out a little more about him and introduce him to you.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself.

A: I was born in South India, in the beautiful state of Kerala, and moved to the U.S. in my early 20s to pursue my master’s in philosophy at Biola University. Last year, my wife and I moved to Charlottesville to start a new apologetics ministry called Engage International (www.engagein.org). The vision of the ministry is to reach people with the truth and the beauty of the gospel by commending and defending the gospel in the public square, connecting with individuals in personal discipleship, and equipping the church to influence culture.

I enjoy reading history, philosophy, and theology; going on short hikes with my wife; and playing badminton, chess, and cricket.

Q: Why did you agree to speak at Think Well?

A: An event like this is so important, because the young people of today are the leaders and influencers of tomorrow. If we are to reach culture with the gospel, it is imperative that we reach the young generation.

As is evident from his talk titles, Sam is a versatile apologist for the Christian faith and has spoken on a wide range of topics around the world (primarily in his former role as an itinerant speaker for RZIM). Sam’s bout with a rare and aggressive form of cancer fueled his interest to study the age-old question of God and suffering.

You can find Sam’s formal bio and bios of all our other 2021 speakers here.

Registration for Think Well 2021 is underway and includes both in-person and Zoom attendance options. Registration closes June 13. Register here.
